NXT Star Says Charlotte Flair “Opened Their Eyes” About The Wrestling Business

Charlotte Flair is putting in the work.

Kendal Grey signed with WWE as part of its NIL program in January 2023, before making her in-ring debut in March of the following year.

After initially appearing on Level Up, Grey later moved to NXT and the newly relaunched Evolve. However, by mid-August 2025, the 24-year-old was back with WWE’s third brand with a losing effort against Alba Fyre.

This return has coincided with Wren Sinclair trying to get Charlie Dempsey to let Grey into the No Quarter Catch Crew.

During an appearance on Cheap Heat with Pete Rosenberg, Grey discussed her rise through the WWE ranks and training in NXT. The young star talked up the experience she’s getting, which includes sharing the ring with main roster stars such as Charlotte Flair and Ivy Nile.

“Our classes are mixed with everyone. So I’m in class with Jacy Jayne, Fallon (Henley), who’s also in my class? Kali’s in my class, like all the NXT stars are in our class. So we are constantly training with them. So it’s really helpful and it’s really nice to have that experience. I rolled around with Charlotte [Flair] a couple of times. Ivy Nile will come in a couple of times.”

Rosenberg then asked Grey what it was like to work with Flair and learn from the former Women’s Champion. In response, she said that Flair is “amazing” and someone who has opened her eyes about the wider wrestling business.

“She’s amazing. She’s so good. It’s just the way she thinks about it, and so smart about it. She gives great advice, too, and honestly, she opened my eyes about a lot of things in this business so far.”

In recent weeks and months, Charlotte Flair has been given a new lease of life in her unlikely partnership with Alexa Bliss.

After coming to an uneasy alliance, the pair went on to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam, with The Queen naming the win one of the best moments of her career.

It’s been announced that Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss will defend the titles against Piper Niven and Alba Fyre on the August 29 edition of SmackDown in Lyon, France. On the same show, Solo Sikoa will defend the United States Championship against Sami Zayn.
