NXT Star’s Character Will Be “Refined” Before Main Roster Switch
A former NXT North American Champion could be heading to the main roster.
Tony D’Angelo was written off NXT television on the July 29 edition of the show. In a backstage skit borrowing heavily from the ending of The Sopranos, D’Angelo sat down to eat before a shadow was cast over his face, and the scene faded to black.
While the segment might have been the end of The Don in NXT, it might have signalled the next major step in his WWE career.
According to a new report via Wrestle Votes Radio, D’Angelo could land on the main roster before the end of 2025.
“Sources indicate Tony D’Angelo’s name has been circulating within creative recently, with some expecting him to debut on the main roster before year’s end.”
The report added that D’Angelo has impressed with a strong work ethic while with NXT.
“We’re told his mobster-style gimmick is expected to remain at this time, though it will likely be slightly refined before he hits either Raw or SmackDown. D’Angelo, a former NXT North American Champion, is said to have a strong work ethic and standout personality traits that many within the company speak highly of.”
Another NXT Star Linked With Main Roster Move
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that Ethan Page could make the move to WWE SmackDown off the back of his new partnership with Chelsea Green. The pair has impressed those backstage with their on-screen chemistry, and there’s a belief it could help launch Page on the main roster.
It’s been announced that WWE will bring back the Flag Match on the September 9 edition of NXT to settle the rivalry between Ethan Page and Tavion Heights.
