NXT Reportedly Terminated Several Members Of Production Team

There have been more staff cuts on the production side of WWE’s NXT brand, according to a new report.

Budget cuts have taken place in WWE several times this year in terms of talent and behind-the-scenes personnel. Whenever it happens, WWE cites budget cuts as well a the effects of COVID-19 causing some plans to change.

Many NXT superstars were released earlier in the year including former NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream. It was also reported in May that WWE’s Executive Vice President, Television Production Kevin Dunn would oversee multiple divisions of the company after more cuts were made. Other divisions in WWE like WWE Network, WWE Digital and WWE Studios have seen substantial cuts.

A new report from Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net notes that further cuts took place over the last week that affected the NXT production team.

“While speaking with sources in WWE, I was informed that there was another round of production related cuts made at NXT this week. Additionally, I was told that ‘They’re down to a skeleton crew.’ When I asked for details as to which areas within the company were part of the latest round of terminations, I was just told ‘production.’”

Triple H, who is WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development, has commented in the past about how all companies were making “difficult decisions” during the ongoing pandemic and WWE was no different than them.

Tomorrow’s edition of WWE NXT will be a new era for the brand. There is a new logo and new look expected to debut on Tuesday night. Last night we found out Samoa Joe was relinquishing the NXT Title due to an undisclosed injury and it’s unknown what the future of the NXT Title is. As you can see in the tweet above, WWE is calling it NXT 2.0, so we will have to see what they come up with on Tuesday night.
