NWA Empowerrr Results – August 28

The first-ever NWA women’s-only pay-per-view called Empowerrr took place on Saturday night at the Chase Ballroom in St. Louis, Missouri.

The show began with Executive Producer Mickie James doing a speech thanking the fans for the support and welcoming us to the show. James got a bit emotional because of how much the show means to her.

The commentary team was Joe Galli, Velvet Sky and Brent Tarring. Tim Storm joined commentary later in the show. Every referee used during the show was a female referee.

Here are the results of the show.

1. Diamante defeated Chik Tormenta and Kylie Rae in a triple threat match.

2. The Hex (Allysin Kay and Marti Belle) defeated Hell on Heels (Renee Michelle and Sahara 7) in the Semifinals of the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament.

3. Red Velvet & KiLynn King defeated The Freebabes (Jazzy Yang, Hollyhood Haley J, and Miranda Gordy) in the Semifinals of the NWA World Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament.

Gail Kim, the Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer, did a promo about how happy she was to be there. Taryn Terrell interrupted the promo with two friends. Taryn was disrespectful to Gail and then there was a surprise. Awesome Kong made her way down to the ring as a surprise. Kong beat up Taryn’s friends. Kong and Gail each did quick promos while hugging eachother while Kong said she was done with wrestling. Gail said that they had a special bond for life because of the history they had together. Great moment.

4. Deonna Purrazzo defeated Melina to retain the Impact Wrestling Knockout Championship.

5. Allysin Kay and Marti Belle defeated Red Velvet and KiLynn King to become the NWA Women’s World Tag Team Champions.

6. Kamille defeated Leyla Hirsch to retain the NWA Women’s World Championship.

7. NWA Women’s Invitational Cup Gauntlet was won by Chelsea Green. The victory means that will Chelsea Green will challenge Kamille for the NWA Women’s World Championship at NWA 73 on Sunday.

The other women in the match were Bianca Carelli, Jamie Senegal, Jennacide, Kiera Hogan, Masha Slamovich, Thunder Kitty, Tootie Lynn, Lady Frost, Debbie Malenko and Chelsea Green.

The event had a runtime of 2 hours, 39 minutes.

Ronda Rousey was pretty happy about it.

TJR Thoughts: I watched it and enjoyed it a lot. I didn’t feel like writing a detailed review. I wanted to watch as a fan and just enjoy the show. I’m so happy for my friend Mickie James as the Executive Producer and I know this is only the start of what she hopes to build for the future.

I don’t want to say everything was perfect, but it felt like a big deal to everybody that was in that ring and took part in producing the event. I think there were some things that could have been better from a production standpoint. Overall, though, I enjoyed it. The venue was a great choice as well as an improvement over where NWA events were taking place over the last couple of years in a studio. It looked a lot better here with about 900 fans in attendance. They were vocal and made noise.

The NWA 73 pay-per-view takes place Sunday night from the same view in St. Louis. Good luck to everybody involved with it.
