Numerous Wrestling Stars Donate To Sara Lee Memorial Fund
The tragic passing of former WWE Tough Enough winner Sara has led to an outpouring of support from several notable wrestling stars.
The wrestling world is a wonderful place sometimes.
News of Sara Lee’s passing was broken on Thursday, 6 October. Lee, the co-winner of WWE Tough Enough season six, was just 30-years-old when she passed away, and left behind her a doting husband and three young children. Thankfully, they won’t have to struggle financially during these troubling times.
A memorial fund was set up to aid her widow – former WWE Superstar Wesley Blake, now Westin Blake – with over two times the goal already being donated. At the time of writing, the total is $59,965. (UPDATE: 7:30pm ET Friday it’s over $90,000.)
Glancing at the list of top donators provides a heartwarming look at the wrestling world, as several notable stars from WWE, AEW, IMPACT, and elsewhere have donated large sums. Five names are credited with a generous $2,000 donation, with Elias, Madcap Moss, and Titus O’Neil among them.
Other donators include Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Braun Strowman, Rhea Ripley, Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green, and Blake’s former Forgotten Sons partner Steve Maclin.
Sara Lee was a contestant on the 2015 season of WWE Tough Enough, co-winning alongside Josh Bredl. After being assigned to the WWE Performance Center, she was released a year after winning the series, wrestling her final match during an untelevised NXT live event on 11 August 2016.
