“Not About The Moves” – Triple H Gives His Take On Wrestling

Triple H

WWE boss Triple H is sure to have put the cat amongst the pigeons with wrestling fans as he claims the sport is not about the moves done in the ring.

Wrestling by its very nature is a subjective form of sports and/or entertainment depending on your own taste. While some fans clamour to see the next 5, 6, or 7-star mat classic, some hanker for the days of over-the-top characters, and some people out there just want to see blood and guts.

While fans debate their favourite stars or matches using their own criteria, one man whose opinion has never carried more weight in the wrestling world is Triple H. The man who now oversees both the talent relations department and creative strategy of the biggest wrestling company in the world has his own thoughts on what makes wrestling special, and it isn’t the moves.

Speaking to recent SummerSlam victor Logan Paul on his Impaulsive Podcast, Triple H explained his take on wrestling and why he places more emphasis on character and story:

“I think that’s the gap that people have right? Even our talent that have been doing this a really long time. It’s not the moves. It’s like watching a movie. How many movies have you seen with crazy budgets and special effects and CGI that visually you go ‘Holy sh*t that’s amazing’ and no one cares? The movie bombs, there’s no story, no one really fully cares.”

“It’s not about the moves, what we do. It’s about what you do in-between. The characters, the story.”

Triple H has already made his presence felt in his new role in WWE, overruling a previous Vince McMahon edict to make one big change with a WWE Superstar at SummerSlam.
