No Plans For Popular WWE Figure To Return To TV
A hugely popular WWE character is unlikely to return to our screens in the near future.
Former NXT General Manager William Regal made a surprise appearance on the 23rd January edition of NXT, offering his support and words of advice for Ava as she geared up to take on the role he had held for eight years before his January 2022 release.
The Gentleman Villain was swiftly snapped up by AEW, making his debut for the company in March 2022 before embarking on a highly successful nine month run that saw the Blackpool, England native lead the Blackpool Combat Club in a heated feud with the Jericho Appreciation Society.
Regal shocked the wrestling world by assisting MJF to defeat Blackpool Combat Club member Jon Moxley to lift the AEW World Championship at AEW Full Gear on 19th November.
What promised to be an intriguing storyline was soon cut short however, when Regal accepted an offer to rejoin WWE as Vice President of Global Talent Development, citing a desire to help develop the skills of real-life son Charlie Dempsey.
WWE Has No Current On Screen Plans For William Regal
The 55 year-old confirmed his AEW departure on December 30th, but his anticipated return to TV screens was ruled out due to AEW inserting a contractual clause that prevented Regal appearing on any WWE televised show for a period of one year.
Despite the positive reception for his recent cameo appearance, it would appear that fans should not anticipate the Brit making a regular return to screens.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, WWE currently has no plans in place for Regal to return to WWE television.
