No Bad Blood After AEW Walkout Claims Star
One wrestling star has claimed there is no bad blood on either side following a bizarre walkout in AEW.
After making their debut as a team on the October 25th edition of Collision, Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize climbed into the ring to face Marina Shafir and Megan Bayne. When all was said and done, Shafir and Bayne picked up the win in under two and a half minutes.
In the context of the company, the dominant win made sense as AEW had to showcase the makeshift team of Shafir and Bayne after the Death Riders’ star replaced Bayne’s usual partner, Penelope Ford, in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament.
On November 8th, Newell and Alize were set to compete for a second time against Anna Jay and Tay Melo, another team in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship tournament, but the match never made it to the ring. Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize reportedly refused to lose for a second week in a row and left the taping.
They were quickly replaced by Hyan and Maya World, who lost to TayJay in quick fashion. Hyan and Maya World were said to have “earned points” backstage for stepping up at such short notice. A subsequent report claimed there were issues during their previous appearance, and there was a level of surprise that Newell and Alize were brought back.
No Issues Between Nixon Newell, Miranda Alize & AEW
Now speaking on Twitch, Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize both addressed the situation. Despite reports to the contrary, Newell claimed there were no issues with Megan Bayne during their first match together in AEW. Newell then noted that after the promo they cut, they believed that the short match they were presented with TayJay served nobody. Newell added:
We decided collectively as a partnership, a couple, as wrestlers independently, that three minutes isn’t going to benefit no one in this match.
Newell noted that they were told that there was no problem and they were free to go home. The star formerly known as Tegan Nox in WWE repeatedly noted that there was “no bad blood on either side.” Newell was not happy about coverage of the incident and claimed to have “legit woke up to death threats” on Sunday morning.
