NJPW Teases Kenny Omega’s Return

Kenny Omega IWGP US Title

NJPW has released a video teasing Kenny Omega’s return to the company.

Going into 2019, Kenny Omega’s pro wrestling future was unclear. While the rest of The Elite had already announced they were finishing up in NJPW to form All Elite Wrestling, Omega was the reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion and still had time left on his contract with the company.

At that year’s Wrestle Kingdom 13, The Cleaner faced Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event. After losing the match and his title, Omega left New Japan for AEW and wasn’t seen in the company that made him famous for another four years.

Omega made his return in 2023, defeating Will Ospreay for the IWGP United States Title at Wrestle Kingdom 17, only to lose it back to the Aerial Assassin at that yeat’s Forbidden Door.

During the star’s absence, Tanahashi continued to compete in New Japan, but the two didn’t cross paths during Omega’s brief time back in the company. However, it appears that has now changed as NJPW has released a video teaser of The Best Bout Machine reuniting with the current New Japan President over five years since they were last in the ring together.

In the video, Tanahashi admitted he had mixed emotions about the meeting, but said he was excited to see Omega again. While it’s unclear what will happen at the reunion, it’s notable that NJPW and AEW will hold their next joint show, Wrestle Dynasty, in Japan on January 5th, the day after Wrestle Kingdom 19.

Kenny Omega Training For AEW Return With Kota Ibushi

Kota Ibushi has revealed that he has been training with Kenny Omega. Both men are currently out of action with medical issues, but it looks like the Golden Lovers could be close to a return to AEW. Ibushi made he and Omega’s intentions known, saying they are “far from done” and that AEW was next.
