NJPW Star Challenges AEW’s Jon Moxley To Huge Rematch
Jon Moxley will find himself facing a familiar foe from New Japan very soon.
Moxley has been going back and forth between wrestling in Japan and the United States for about four years now. NJPW opened their doors to him after his WWE contract ended and the company has so happy with his performance during the 2019 G1 Climax tournament that he was given the greenlight to return time and again.
As part of his working relationship with NJPW, Moxley has wrestled for both the company’s main programs in Japan proper and their satellite US division, which is known as Strong. He has fought many different people during that time, including one wrestler who wants a rematch against him from one year ago.
On July 30, 2022, Jon Moxley defeated El Desperado in a no-disqualification match. Now, Desperado is looking to avenge his loss by challenging Moxley, and it likely won’t be in the United States.
In a video posted on NJPW’s Twitter account, El Desperado spoke in an interview about NJPW Strong doing something special. That ambiguous statement coincides with plans for Strong to do its first show in Japan, which is a two-day event on July 4th and 5th.
Jon Moxley hasn’t responded to the challenge as of this writing, nor has his involvement in another big NJPW event in Forbidden Door on June 25th.
