Report: NJPW Re-signs Kenny Omega; Details on his New Deal
For everyone waiting on Kenny Omega to finally make his way to the WWE, the wait just got another year longer.
In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that “The Cleaner” Kenny Omega has re-signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling. While his contract was due to expire at the end of this month, NJPW offered him a renewal that will see him continue with the company through the end of January 2019. For those following along on their WWE calendar, that locks The Omega Man down through until after next year’s Royal Rumble.
We also know where he’ll be on September 1.

Tommy’s Thoughts: Not that his future with NJPW was ever in any doubt. If anything, I’m surprised that he wasn’t resigned before tearing down the Tokyo Dome with Chris Jericho. Not only is he one of their top stars, he has continued to blaze new trails for the company and continues to bring more eyes to every match that breaks the ratings scale.
Following on from New Year’s Dash with impending rivalries against Jay White for the IWGP United States Championship and even his Bullet Club partner Cody Rhodes, as well as the Cody/Bucks “All In” show on September 1st, Kenny Omega looks to have a banner year lined up for himself even without the WWE. Maybe next year?
