NJPW Legend Chooses WWE’s Cody Rhodes As Dream Opponent
A NJPW wrestler who has had a long career wants to face WWE Champion Cody Rhodes rather than anybody else in the company.
The former WWE superstar known as Hideo Itami is best known as Kenta, a talented pro wrestler with over 20 years of experience. Kenta is a former GHC Heavyweight Champion for the NOAH promotion while in NJPW, he is a former IWGP US Champion and an IWGP Tag Team Champion as well.
When he worked for WWE as Hideo Itami, one of the main trainers who helped him a lot was the WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.
While speaking with Sports Illustrated, Kenta made it clear that Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is his choice for a dream match rather than CM Punk, who is the wrestler who took the GTS move from Kenta many years ago.
“Do people want to see me vs. CM Punk? We can’t fight for the GTS. The GTS is mine.”
“That is the match I want. I haven’t had the opportunity for a match against Cody Rhodes. I learned from his father. That’s who I want to wrestle–Cody.”
Cody Rhodes Pinned By Solo Sikoa At WWE Money In The Bank
At WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes became the Undisputed WWE Champion for the first time in his career. Since then, he has been a fighting champion who has successfully defended the title against the likes of AJ Styles and Logan Paul, the US Champion.
Up next for Cody Rhodes could be a matchup with The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa. That’s because, at Money in the Bank, Cody’s team with Kevin Owens & Randy Orton lost to The Bloodline’s Sikoa, Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga.
Based on what happened at Money in the Bank, Cody will have to put his WWE Title on the line against Sikoa at SummerSlam although the match isn’t official yet.
