Nigel McGuinness Gives Update On Bryan Danielson

Nigel McGuinness promo AEW Collision

Nigel McGuinness had a message for Bryan Danielson.

At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, Nigel McGuinness will wrestle his first singles match since 2011 when he takes on Bryan Danielson. The pair have a heated rivalry going all the way back to their time in Ring of Honor.

The British star’s dislike for Danielson caused him to request the match after it became clear he wouldn’t be defending the World Title at the show. Jon Moxley had initially claimed that Danielson would be unable to compete after he was suffocated with a plastic bag at All Out.

On Collision, McGuinness said Danielson was yet to answer his challenge, and accused the star of faking his injury. The veteran went on to say that Danielson is afraid of him and that the American Dragon is an embarrassment to his family.

Nigel McGuinness Denies He Retired Through Injury

At All In, Nigel McGuinness completed a remarkable return to the ring after more than a decade out of action. During a recent interview, McGuinness dismissed the idea that he retired through injury, instead noting it was because he was unable to make enough money with ROH and didn’t want to return to TNA.

There is a lot of confusion and misinformation. The truth of the matter is when I stepped away from wrestling, it was purely because I couldn’t make a living as a wrestler anymore…

I didn’t step away because of concussions. I didn’t step away because of hepatitis. I was perfectly okay to wrestle. So it’s all not a factor going in. You obviously are cognizant of the possibility of injuries and stuff like that, but you try to keep it out of your head.

It’s been confirmed that the winner of the match between Jon Moxley and Darby Allin at Grand Slam will face Danielson for the World Championship at WrestleDream. The champion has promised to retire the next time he loses.
