Nick Khan Names Mistake WWE Is Desperate To Avoid
WWE bosses claim they won’t react to social media.
Even while Vince McMahon was in charge, WWE repeatedly claimed that it was a company about giving fans what they wanted, and listening to fans was a key part of their mission statement. However, during McMahon’s tenure, for many, this felt like lip service with creative often changed on a whim depending on what mood the disgraced former Chairman was in.
Following McMahon’s departure and with Triple H now in creative control, the company appears to be much more in tune with its audience. But that doesn’t mean it will be letting fans on social media have too much influence.
Nick Khan Shares Insight Into WWE Strategy
During an appearance at the National Association of Broadcasters event in Las Vegas on April 9, Nick Khan was asked about the influence of social media on WWE’s on-screen product. But in response, he said it would be a mistake to make business decisions based on the reactions of people on those platforms.
“A small percentage of voices who have a big microphone or megaphone in front of them. It’s a mistake to respond to your business based off of that. You’ve got to base it off your gut and the results.”
Khan added that the sports entertainment giant is trying to appeal to as many people as possible.
“What do people like? They like dramas. They like conflict. They like to see conflict being resolved one way or another. As Paul mentioned, in our business, you get to knock each other out in a 20×20 ring. People like that too. So for us, we want to appeal to everybody,”
During an interview elsewhere, Nick Khan said that WWE would be taking a Premium Live Event to India in 2026 or 2027.
WWE first toured India in 1996, but it would be six years before the company returned. Surprisingly, it would take a further 14 years before the company went back after that.
More recently, WWE held the “Superstar Spectacle” on September 8, 2023, at the G. M. C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium.
