Nick Khan Makes Bizarre WWE Underdog Claim

WWE President Nick Khan

Nick Khan has got the internet talking.

Since he joined the company in 2020, arguably no one has had a bigger impact on WWE than Nick Khan. The company President has been credited with expanding WWE’s horizons and playing a major role in Monday Night Raw’s move to Netflix.

His close relationship with The Rock also helped pave the way for the Hollywood megastar to return to the ring at WrestleMania 40.

Khan’s time at the time of WWE has coincided with the rise of AEW to become a bona fide number two and challenger brand to the company. Although the rivalry between the two sides has ebbed and flowed over the years, rest assured, it’s most definitely there.

Nick Khan Says WWE Are The Underdogs

During an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Tony Khan was asked about the competition that exists between WWE and AEW. In response, the WWE President made a somewhat surprising claim that the sports entertainment giant is the underdog and is constantly underestimated.

“We’re always the underdog at WWE. We always feel that people underestimate us, that we’re looked down upon, and we like it that way. Bet against us, we prefer that, and allow us to show you what we can do. If you look at the stock price now, it’s far in excess of what it was when we all started together five years ago. We’re quite proud of that.

At the same time, we have to keep re-earning our keep on a daily basis here. We feel like it’s a good moment, but we feel like there is a lot of room for growth,”

During the same conversation, Nick Khan gave an insight into the internal reaction to Netflix’s Vince McMahon documentary. Unsurprisingly, Khan noted that those close to the disgraced former WWE Chairman didn’t like it, while for the wider company, the controversy was something it had to “get through.”
