Nick Aldis Recalls Former WWE Executive Telling Him To “F Off”

Nick Aldis WWE

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis recently shared his experience trying to get into WWE in the past.

Nick Aldis has been the general manager of SmackDown since 2023. The English wrestler was originally in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and wrestled under the name Magnus. Aldis was the first British-born wrestler to become TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

After this, his next major stint was in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) until 2022. Aldis then set his sights on WWE, but his initial attempts were in vain.

During an appearance on K100 w/Konnan & Disco, Nick Aldis got candid about his feelings towards how WWE turned him down many times, saying he was slightly offended by how unceremoniously he was turned down. He recalls one particular time when WWE executive Nick Ceman shoved him off in the most corporate way possible.

Well, getting to WWE, I know, unfortunately, it was a long time of me knocking on the door. Yeah, and the truth is, yeah, there was a long time where I was knocking on that proverbial door and I felt like it was being pretty unceremoniously slammed in my face.

I’ve got thick skin. I’ve been around and I certainly don’t think of myself as this unbelievable talent that was a no-brainer sort of thing, and I’ve heard people sort of talk about me in that respect in terms of being signed by WWE and obviously I appreciate it when people have said that about me in the past but I was realistic, I think, about my abilities and stuff like that…

So I say that to say I was never offended by being turned down. But, there was a time where I was slightly offended by how unceremonious it was. But it was a couple times, like, Canyon Ceman back in the day… He pretty much was just like, in the most corporate way possible, basically just told me to F off, and I was just like, ‘Wow.’

Aldis pointed out the fact that there was no feedback given to him, making him feel that it was a personal reason and not a business reason for not hiring him.

Not trying to say that I deserve a little more than that but I mean, no feedback… And that to me was sort of when I started to think, okay, this feels more personal than business, and look, obviously, the structure at WWE has changed a lot and obviously, it’s a very different group of cats in decision-making positions.

Nick Aldis Has His Hands Full On SmackDown

Nick Aldis has had a successful run in WWE since 2023 as the general manager of their blue brand. He currently finds himself in the middle of a heated feud between WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes and The Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre.

Aldis has had his hands full trying to keep the two stars from ripping each other apart.

The feud will culminate in the upcoming episode of SmackDown, which will take place in Berlin, Germany, in a Three Stages of Hell match for the WWE Undisputed Championship.
