Nick Aldis Announces He’s Leaving NWA

Nick Aldis

Nick Aldis will be a free agent in January 2023.

Nick Aldis has been wrestling for the National Wrestling Alliance since 2017. He held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship (i.e. the original Big Gold Belt) twice, including one reign that lasted over 1,000 days.

Aldis also played a big part in AEW’s formation as he wrestled Cody Rhodes at the All In event in 2018. And it was at that event that Rhodes beat Aldis to win the same title that his father Dusty won three times in the 1980s.

But now Aldis’ time with the NWA is coming to an end…but that wasn’t supposed to be public knowledge, at least not yet.

According to a report from WrestleZone, this announcement was supposed to be for his Instagram subscribers only. Somehow it got leaked and ended up reaching a wider audience, so Aldis noted that further details will be given only to those same subscribers. Here’s what Aldis wrote:

“I released that video earlier but it was supposed to be for subscribers only. Wtf… anyway as you may have seen I gave my notice to the NWA. I’ll be a free agent on January 1st. Once I figure out how to do videos for subscribers only I’ll be back with more insight on the decision, conversations with Mickie and my agent and more…

Love you all.”

Aside from his NWA accolades, Nick Aldis has won singles and/or tag titles in TNA/Impact, Global Force Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Pro Wrestling NOAH, Global Force Wrestling, and in the TNA India side project Ring Ka King. He is also married to former WWE women’s wrestler Mickie James, who currently wrestles for Impact Wrestling.

November 6th was also Nick’s 37th birthday.
