Nic Nemeth Was Not First Choice To Be TNA World Champion

Nic Nemeth TNA World Champion

A new report about TNA’s Nic Nemeth reveals the former WWE superstar wasn’t the company’s first choice to become the new World Champion.

At the TNA Slammiversary PPV in Montreal, TNA’s biggest crowd of the year witnessed Nic Nemeth (formerly known as Dolph Ziggler in WWE) become the new TNA World Champion.

The match that Nic Nemeth won to become TNA World Champion was a six-man elimination match. The former TNA World Champion Moose was pinned in the match by Joe Hendry, who is perhaps the most popular man in the company right now. Unfortunately for Hendry, he was met with a low blow by Josh Alexander, who turned heel and hit his C4 finishing move to pin Hendry.

After Nemeth eliminated Alexander with a superkick, he was in the final two with Frankie Kazarian. The two talented veterans had a close battle with tense moments until Nemeth his Danger Zone finishing move for the pinfall win to become TNA World Champion for the first time.

It has been reported by Fightful Select that as of May, the original plan was for former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander to regain the championship that he had to forfeit due to injury in the past. The feeling was that his heel turn would present Josh in a different light.

According to Fightful, it was hinted to them that TNA felt like the Alexander feud with Joe Hendry could continue without the TNA World Title involved.

As for Joe Hendry, TNA management apparently didn’t plan for Hendry to win the TNA World Title even though he’s received a lot of buzz in pro wrestling of late.
