News: AEW Announces Sting and Darby Allin vs. Ricky Starks and Brian Cage at AEW Revolution PPV on Feb. 27, Sting’s First Match Since 2015

Sting will be having his first match in an All Elite Wrestling ring next month. The match will be a Street Fight with Sting teaming up with TNT Champion Darby Allin against Team Taz members Brian Cage and Ricky Starks at Revolution on February 27. Sting debuted in AEW on the December 2 edition of Dynamite last year.

Here’s the announcement by AEW on their social media channels.

It will be Sting’s first match since September 2015 at WWE’s Clash of Champions when Sting was injured in a match against Seth Rollins.

Sting is 61 years old, so obviously there’s concern about his age since he suffered a spinal stenosis injury in that match against Rollins that was over five years ago.

The match for Revolution was a challenge from Taz on last night’s Dynamite and then Darby Allin made it seem like they were going to accept the challenge. Today, AEW made it official.

TJR Thoughts: In my opinion, Sting shouldn’t wrestle because it’s been over five years and because of his injury history. However, I assume that Sting is only doing the match because he got cleared by his doctors and AEW’s doctors must allow it. It’s probably because Sting doesn’t want his last match to be from 2015 when he could barely finish the match due to injury. I just hope they’re smart about this.
