News: 16-Time WWE Champion John Cena Gets Married

This is not the kind of website where we post wedding news that often, but in this case it’s something worth sharing. It was reported tonight by PWInsider that 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena got married to Shay Shariatzadeh. The couple had been dating since early 2019. They got married at a private ceremony in Tampa where John has lived for many years. US Weekly reports that the wedding took place this past Monday, October 12.

It was reported by TMZ that John and Shay filed for a marriage certificate earlier this month in Florida.

There is not much known about Shay other than she was born in Iran and is a Canadian citizen from Vancouver. She has worked as a product manager for a tech company and is 29 years old. Cena is 43 years old, so there’s a bit of an age gap there, but they seem very happy together.

Cena filmed the movie Playing with Fire in Vancouver and that’s where he met Shay. At the premiere of the film, Cena said this:

“What’s truly special about this one (movie) is that, no matter what projects I’m involved in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special (Shay).”

This is Cena’s second marriage. He was married to Elizabeth Huberdeau from 2009 to 2012. After that marriage ended, Cena dated WWE superstar Nikki Bella for about six years and they even got engaged in the ring at WrestleMania 33 in 2017 in Orlando, but they did not get married. Cena’s relationship with Nikki was covered on Total Divas and Total Bellas as well.

Meanwhile, in other Cena news, you’ll probably recognize his voice during Honda car commercials because Cena is the new voice of Honda as well. Cena tweeted this commercial about it.

If you’re wondering, WWE has yet to comment on Cena’s wedding news. Perhaps that is at John’s request since Cena hasn’t talked about it either.

Congrats to John and Shay on the wedding. We wish them all the best in their marriage with many years of happiness.
