Newest AEW Signing Attacks On Dynamite Debut

It’s been a rough week for one AEW star who ended up laid out on Dynamite by the company’s newest arrival.

At Double Or Nothing, the final of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament pitted Jamie Hayter against Mercedes Mone. The two women threw absolutely everything at each other but in the end Mone picked up the win when she drove Hayter’s head directly into the mat while rolling her up. That win means Mercedes Mone will challenge Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at All In Texas.

On the May 28th edition of Dynamite, Jamie Hayter was in a reflective mood when she came to the ring. However, Hayter didn’t have too long to talk before unfamiliar music hit and AEW’s newest star made her presence felt.

The Toxic Spider Thekla laid out Hayter with a vicious punch before posing in the ring. Excalibur noted on commentary that Thekla had been fired with cause from Stardom for striking the promotion’s president.

Who Is AEW’s Newest Signing, Thekla?

After two years as part of the Ice Ribbon roster in Japan, Thekla joined Stardom in 2021. The Austrian star quickly became one of the top wrestlers in the company as part of Giulia’s Donna Del Mundo stable.

During her time with DDM, Thekla held the Artist of Stardom Title alongside Giulia and Mai Sakurai. In 2024, the star turned on DDM and became a founding member of the Natsuko Tora-led heel faction, H.A.T.E.

In recent months, the group has been feuding with Cosmic Angels, and at All-Star Grand Queendom on April 27th, the Toxic Spider lost to Sayaka Kurara. The stipulation for the bout was meant to see Thekla join Cosmic Angels if she was defeated, however, she refused and attacked Stardom President Taro Okada. This led to her being ‘fired,’ writing her out of the promotion after four years.
