New WWE Women’s Champion Crowned At SummerSlam

Tiffany Stratton thought about trying to claim it but the WWE Women’s Championship has a new home following SummerSlam.

Bayley has held the WWE Women’s Championship since defeating her former Damage CTRL partner IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40. Since then The Role Model has only had three televised title defences with the last of those coming at Clash at the Castle where she defeated Piper Niven.

Nia Jax booked her place in the WWE Women’s Title match at SummerSlam by winning the Queen of the Ring tournament in May and has since found herself forming an alliance with the new Ms. Money In The Bank Tiffany Stratton.

Things had grown increasingly personal between Nia Jax and Bayley in the run-up to their match with Bayley reminding everyone that Jax put her on the shelf in 2017, as the WWE Women’s Champion labelled her challenger “clumsy and reckless.”

At SummerSlam, Nia Jax made her debut at WWE’s biggest party of the summer and absolutely dominated Bayley but with both women down, Tiffany Stratton looked like she was going to try and cash in her Money In The Bank briefcase during the bout. Bayley nailed Stratton but that allowed Jax to hit two big powerbombs and two more Annihilators as Nia Jax captured the WWE Women’s Championship.

Stratton celebrated with Jax after the match but with her pink briefcase in play, it could be Tiffy Time anytime and that could spell disaster for their friendship.
