New WWE Star Breaks Long-Time Silence After SmackDown Vignette
A WWE newcomer has taken to social media to make a brief statement to wrestling fans after a tease on SmackDown.
The Motor City Machine Guns duo of Chris Sabin & Alex Shelley are TNA legends who are heading to the WWE main roster to join the SmackDown brand.
In a video that aired on SmackDown in Greenville, they showed cars on the streets representing the Motor City (Detroit) where the two men are from and the letters “MCMG” were also spraypainted on a wall, which means the Motor City Machine Guns. The end of the video also said “Next Week” for their SmackDown debut.
There was also a backstage segment on WWE Smackdown where Nick Aldis informed #DIY and The Street Profits that a new team was coming next week. Aldis also informed Los Garza (Angel & Humberto) that they would face a new tag team next week.
It was also recently reported by Fightful Select that there was some uncertainty about Sabin & Shelley using the Motor City Machine Guns moniker in WWE. However, the use of the “MCMG” in the video on SmackDown likely means that the name is coming with them as well.
Chris Sabin Posts On Social Media During WWE SmackDown
A wrestler tweeting two words on X/Twitter isn’t normally a big deal, but Chris Sabin did it during SmackDown in his first social media post since July. Sabin’s two words were simple:
“Hello there.”
Since WWE has had a working relationship with TNA for several months, it’s likely that the Motor City Machine Guns history will be mentioned when they appear on Smackdown. Sabin and Shelley are both former TNA World Champions while they have held many other championships (Sabin is a 10-time X-Division champion, for example) as well.
As the Motor City Machine Guns, Sabin & Shelley held TNA’s Tag Team Titles a total of three times.
