New WWE SmackDown Commentary Team Confirmed
WWE has switched announce teams again and now it’s been confirmed just who will be calling the action on SmackDown.
The announce teams in WWE have been getting a reshuffle in recent weeks. Kevin Patrick was released by WWE after being removed from his duties on SmackDown. Corey Graves was joined on the blue brand by Michael Cole for the SmackDown before the Royal Rumble.
In recent months, Raw has been called by Michael Cole and Wade Barrett but less than a week after WWE announced a blockbuster deal with Netflix for Raw, it’s all change again.
Pat McAfee To WWE Raw, Wade Barrett To SmackDown
On Raw in Tampa, the show began with Michael Cole and Pat McAfee at the announce desk as Cole revealed that they would be the new commentary duo for the red brand moving forward. However, fans of Wade Barrett need not fear, for it seems he has a new role as well.
PWInsider has now reported that the plan for the SmackDown announce team moving forward is for Corey Graves to team up with Wade Barrett. Graves will become the lead announcer on the show with Barrett continuing his role on colour commentary. As we saw last night, the Raw broadcast team going forward is Michael Cole and Pat McAfee. Barrett previously called the action on Friday nights alongside Cole after McAfee took his hiatus from the company.
Pat McAfee had suggested his WWE future was in doubt before the company was taken over by Endeavor but clearly, he is happy to work for the new regime in charge.
