New WWE Rivalry Set To Begin On Raw After SummerSlam
A current champion in WWE could be dealing with a new rival on the first episode of Monday Night Raw after SummerSlam.
Becky Lynch defended the Women’s Intercontinental Title against Lyra Valkyria at WWE SummerSlam in a No Disqualification and No Countout match. It was a physical match that featured the use of weapons throughout, and it ended in controversy.
The reason it was controversial is that Bayley went down to the ringside to go after her rival, Lynch. This led to a final spot where Bayley tried to use a steel chain to hit Lynch, but Lynch moved, and Bayley punched Valkyria with the chain by accident. Lynch hit the Manhandle Slam on Valkyria for the pinfall win to keep the title.
By losing the match, Valkyria also cannot challenge Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title, which was agreed upon before the match took place.
As for what’s next, the post-SummerSlam Raw on August 4th in Brooklyn will see Lynch kick off a new rivalry. Cory Hays of BodySlam.net reports that Lynch will begin a new rivalry with WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella on Raw.
It’s not yet known if it will lead to a PLE match at Clash in Paris, but it would be a fresh rivalry for both women.
WWE Women’s World Title Match Set For Clash In Paris
There is one women’s title match already known for Clash in Paris on August 31st. That’s because Stephanie Vaquer won the battle royal at the women’s only Evolution PLE.
Thanks to her battle royal victory, Vaquer will go on to challenge the Women’s World Champion Naomi for her title at Clash in Paris.
Naomi got a big win at WWE SummerSlam when she defended the Women’s World Title against Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer. After Ripley hit a Riptide off the middle turnbuckle, Naomi rolled up Ripley and got the win to keep her title.
