At WWE NXT No Mercy 2025, Ricky Saints challenged Oba Femi for the NXT Championship.

Both competitors traded punishing moves, with Femi using his strength and backbreakers to dominate early. However, Saints’ persistence paid off; after countering Femi’s finishers multiple times, he hit a crucial Tornado DDT followed by another DDT to secure the pinfall. Saints emerged victorious, ending Oba Femi’s 263-day reign and becoming the new NXT Champion in a memorable bout.

Saints have had an impressive run in WWE so far. This is his second title victory in WWE NXT in seven months. He defeated Shawn Spears on the April 1 episode of NXT to win his first title in the promotion, which was the NXT North American Championship.

Who Is Responsible for WWE Star Ricky Saints’ Successful Wrestling Journey?

A few days ago, Saints had an interview with Good Karma Wrestling, where he was asked who helped him in his wrestling journey. He named Bryan Danielson, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, and Shawn Spears as the stars who helped him climb the ladder of success.

“There’s a few people in my life that have really helped me. You’ve got Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Cody, Shawn Spears; people like that, that have really, along the way, helped guide me to this point that I’m getting to.

Even some guys that are not as known. God rest his soul, Jax Dane was another guy from NWA that really took me under his wing and helped me out. So, I can’t say that this was a lonesome journey, for sure. There are people who have helped as much as they could, as much as they have been able to help.

So I do think that this Saturday, it is on me to not only make them proud, but to make myself proud and my family proud as well.”

Before joining WWE, Ricky Sainst was working for AEW under Ricky Starks. Tony Khan benched him for around 11 months before releasing him. Soon after he departed from the Jacksonville-based company, he signed with WWE.
