New IMPACT Wrestling World Champion Crowned
It was a good night for IMPACT Wrestling greats The Motor City Machine Guns at Against All Odds as Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin won gold, but not together.
Against All Odds saw Steve Maclin make the third defense of the IMPACT World Title following his win for the vacant title back at Rebellion in April. After surviving the challenges of Rhino and PCO, Maclin faced the daunting task of taking on Alex Shelley in Columbus, Ohio.
The two men had an even, hard-fought match but in the end, Maclin’s head met an exposed turnbuckle allowing Shelley to hit Shell Shocked to pick up the massive win, capturing the IMPACT World Championship for the first time in his long career.
Earlier in the night, there was success for Shelley’s long-time tag team partner Chris Sabin as he defeated Trey Miguel to win the X Division Championship for the ninth time in his career.
