New Creative Team Revealed For WWE’s AAA
Three people with a long history in pro wrestling will lead WWE’s version of AAA creatively.
On the WWE main roster, two-time Hall of Famer Paul “Triple H” Levesque oversees creative direction as the Chief Content Officer. It’s a role that he has had since July 2002, when Vince McMahon initially “retired” due to his many out-of-the-ring issues.
Two-time WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels oversees the NXT brand creatively as the Senior Vice President of Talent Development and Creative. It’s a role that Michaels has had for about four years.
During WrestleMania 41 weekend, Triple H and WWE announced that they had acquired the AAA wrestling promotion from Mexico, holding a 51% controlling interest in the company.
The first WWE-run AAA event is Worlds Collide, scheduled for June 7th in Los Angeles. Fans have been wondering who will run the brand creatively, and there are some details.
According to PWInsider Elite, the trio of Jeremy Borash, Konnan, and Moody Jack Melendez will be involved creatively. Borash has been in pro wrestling for over 25 years, going back to WCW, a long run in TNA, and he’s been in WWE for several years.
Konnan is a wrestling legend who had a brief WWE run as Max Moon, but is mainly known for his legendary career in WCW and AAA. He has also worked creatively in pro wrestling as a booker for many years. Konnan also did a great introduction speech for Rey Mysterio when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Moody Jack Melendez is a veteran announcer known for his work with TNA (he was the voice of LAX) and various Puerto Rican promotions. He recently spoke to Contralona about the WWE-AAA deal.
“I’ve maintained communication with everyone working there (AAA) and we have lived a lot of professional and personal experiences. This is an opportunity that I was looking for years, since 2017, and there was always something stopping it until now with AAA.
Returning to AAA now, especially as part of WWE, it means more to redeem mistakes from the past in every aspect of life. Being part of the creative with WWE & AAA is the crowning moment of my life after everything I’ve gone through.
I will give it my all because this represents a new opportunity not just for me, but for other Puerto Rican and Latin American Wrestlers.” (H/t Fightful)
