New AEW Tournament Begins On Dynamite

Tony Khan AEW

Tony Khan loves a tournament, and now a new one has begun on AEW Dynamite to find a challenger for a huge title match at Forbidden Door.

Since winning the AEW World Tag Team Championship, The Hurt Syndicate’s Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin have torn through the competition. At All In Texas, The Hurt Syndicate retained the gold against JetSpeed and The Patriarchy, but the real headlines came after the match.

Nick Wayne viciously turned on Christian Cage while The Hurt Syndicate had a tense run-in with FTR, who had been on commentary for the bout. Adam Copeland made his return to take the fight to FTR while teasing his eventual reunion with his long-time tag team partner, Christian Cage.

AEW Tag Team Tournament Begins

On the July 23rd edition of Dynamite, the start of a new AEW Tag Team Title Eliminator Tournament took place with eight teams set to battle it out for the right to challenge The Hurt Syndicate for their gold at Forbidden Door.

Only two teams were confirmed to be part of the tournament on the show as FTR defeated Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey. After that match, Copeland appeared and noted while he couldn’t lay hands on FTR, he knew two men who could which brought out Lashley and Benjamin to brawl with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler.
