New AEW Tag Team Champions Crowned On Dynamite
The party’s over for Private Party as brand new AEW World Tag Team Champions were crowned on Dynamite in Knoxville.
On a night that saw Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay form a dream team for Grand Slam Australia, there was another tag team in AEW celebrating success.
Ever since MVP welcomed Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley into AEW, The Hurt Syndicate has wasted no time in making their presence felt. The group recently introduced themselves to AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party and left them with a stark warning as a title match was made for the January 22 edition of Dynamite.
Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin Win AEW Gold
The Hurt Syndicate dominated Private Party with Lashley finishing off Zay with a spear for the win and the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
That win means Zay and Quen’s reign as champions ends just shy of three months while this is the first title success for Benjamin and Lashley since they joined AEW. Between AEW, ROH, and WWE, this is now the sixth tag team title reign of Shelton Benjamin’s career while it marks the first time Bobby Lashley has held tag team gold of any kind in his career.
