New AEW Signing Wants Match With Kenny Omega
Kenny Omega is a man in demand.
On the March 12 edition of Dynamite, “Speedball” Mike Bailey made his long-awaited AEW debut. On the show, the former TNA star saw off The Beast Mortos to earn a spot in a number one contenders match for Kenny Omega’s International Title.
The star will now face Mark Davis, Orange Cassidy, and Ricochet with the winner of that Four-Way Match will face Kenny Omega at Dynasty.
In the latest edition of his vlog, Bailey said a match with Omega is the reason he’s become All Elite. The pair have wrestled just once previously, meeting at PWG’s All-Star Weekend back in 2015.
“Maybe it’s thinking too far ahead and overconfidence. Me vs. Kenny is the match that I’m literally here to get. It’s the match I’ve been chasing for almost ten years,”
Kenny Omega Heading For Unification Match?
Meanwhile, it’s been reported that AEW is considering unifying the International and Continental Championships. Not only has the idea been pitched, it’s been described as a “firm creative plan.”
However, it’s unknown whether the titles will simply be brought together and unified as one, or if a new championship will be created to encompass both.
In the wake of the report, speculation exploded on social media with fans wondering whether the unification could be done to set up a match between Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada as they’re the two current champions. The pair have a lengthy rivalry stretching back to their time in NJPW, but they’ve never wrestled in AEW.
