New AEW Program Coming As TV Talks Rumble On

Tony Khan AEW

AEW has not yet announced a new TV deal in the US but a new report shed light on when an announcement could happen and the state of the relationship with WBD.

AEW and Warner Brothers Discovery have been synonymous since Tony Khan founded his company in 2019. AEW Dynamite debuted on TNT in October of that year and since then TNT and TBS have been home to AEW’s flagship show as well as Rampage and Collision which were added in 2021 and 2023.

PWInsider reported that while AEW is likely to be mentioned at WBD’s Upfronts, it is not believed a new deal between the parties will be announced as one has not yet been reached.

New AEW Programming On Its Way

Fightful Select followed up by giving more detail on the current relationship between Tony Khan’s company and the media conglomerate. Any announcement of a new TV deal for AEW will be kept very close to the vest and the summer or fall of 2024 is touted as a more likely time for an announcement.

There is an exclusivity period between both parties that continues into the summer although there is no inclination to what date that ends. If that date comes and goes without a deal, AEW would then be free to negotiate with other parties for their TV rights.

There could be more AEW programming announced very soon as a pilot for a new program related to Tony Khan’s promotion is set to be confirmed very soon. While still to be revealed, that program could have something to do with a planned project for two of AEW’s popular names.

WBD sources revealed that there is interest in adding AEW pay-per-views to its MAX streaming service and the two sides have held talks over what a deal like that could be. The report also noted that WBD confirmed that every deal the company is doing is with MAX in mind.
