Netflix Tease WWE Themed ‘Is It Cake?’
Could the crossover event of the century you didn’t know you needed really be on the way when WWE heads to Netflix – the home of the hit show Is It Cake?
Is It Cake? has proved to be a smash hit for fans of unusual cakes. For the uninitiated, the premise is simple – three contestants are given eight hours to make a cake that looks as identical as possible to a random item. Celebrity judges – and the world celebrity is used in the loosest possible sense – then have to pick out the cake from five of the same items.
If one contestant fools the judges then they win $5,000 for winning the episode. A tiebreaker held on the quality of the cakes is held if more than one contestant gets their baked good past the judges’ not-always-eagle-eyes. A further $5,000 is on offer for the winner of the episode if they can then pick the real bundle of cash out of two piles – one of which is of course entirely made of cake. The whole wacky proceedings are overseen by Cody Rhodes’ duplicate Mikey Day.
Could WWE Stars Feature On Is It Cake?
Is It Cake? has gone down a storm on Netflix and with WWE heading to the streaming giant at the start of 2025, a potential crossover could be in the works.
Speaking at a WWE event at Netflix headquarters, the streaming giant’s Sports VP Brandon Riegg noted, as reported by Variety, that a crossover of cake and sports entertainment could be a winner:
We might have a WWE episode of ‘Is It Cake?’ though. I think that would work well.
The event also provided the clearest sign yet that Becky Lynch is on her way back to WWE, whether or not she ends up trying to tell the difference between a three-layer Genoese sponge with buttercream icing and a bowling ball remains to be seen.
