NBA Legend Dresses As “Macho Man” Randy Savage For Halloween
A legendary NBA player dressed up as the “Macho Man” Randy Savage for Halloween this year.
Damian Lillard is a 9-time NBA All-Star who was named to the 75th NBA Anniversary team and will likely be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame after he retires. He is also a massive pro wrestling fan.
In the past, Lillard has dressed as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin while arriving for a game, and he’s constantly referenced pro wrestling throughout his career.
For Halloween this year, the Portland Trail Blazers star guard dressed up in an elaborate outfit as WWE Hall of Famer “Macho Man” Randy Savage.
The late, great Randy Savage was known for wearing colorful outfits complete with long robes. In his outfit, Lillard wore yellow wrestling boots, a red hat, a red/yellow jacket, a version of the WCW World Championship, and of course, he had some Slim Jims with him since Savage was known for promoting them a lot.
While Damian Lillard is under contract to the Portland Trail Blazers, with whom he has spent most of his 14-year career, he is currently out of action with a Torn Achilles tendon suffered this past April, and he may not play at all this season.
“Macho Man” Randy Savage Biopic In Development
Randy Savage passed away in 2011, but his legacy in pro wrestling will live on forever because he is regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers ever.
It was recently announced that production company Artists for Artists is working on a Randy Savage biopic. The company, operated by Kenan Thompson of Saturday Night Live and Johnny Ryan Jr., has confirmed that the project will be titled “Macho.”
The project is based on a script completed by Savage’s late brother, Lanny Poffo, who passed away in February 2023, and Eric Shapiro.
Johnny Ryan Jr. commented on the project.
“Macho Man Randy Savage was the greatest showman of all time and the OG bad boy of entertainment. His outfits were as electric as his personality, and he’s so much more than an artist; he’s an icon. Lanny and Eric did a great job capturing this story and the crazy 80s wrestling era that turnt wrestling figures into lifelong pop culture icons.”
As for Thompson, he expressed excitement while claiming that Savage is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
“Beyond excited for this one!! Macho Man is hands down one of the greatest of all time and can’t wait to bring his story to the screen!!!”
