Why Naomi’s WWE MITB Cash-In Could Be Tied To Seth Rollins’ Injury

Naomi cashed in her Money In The Bank contract on the same weekend Seth Rollins appeared to be seriously injured – but are the two things related?

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Mr. Money In The Bank Seth Rollins faced off with LA Knight. However, that match came to a shocking conclusion as Rollins appeared to seriously injure his knee. After being checked on by the referee and ringside doctor, he recovered enough for Knight to hit him with the BFT and pick up the win.

The following night saw WWE’s women take centre stage with the all-female Evolution show returning for the first time in seven years. That show’s main event saw IYO SKY defend the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley; however, it was neither of those women who left with the title.

Ms. Money In The Bank Naomi recovered from her no holds barred loss to Jade Cargill earlier in the night to cash in her contract during the SKY and Ripley match, turning it into a triple threat bout. Naomi then won the Women’s World Championship for the first time in her career and is now firmly part of the Raw roster.

But did Rollins’ injury lead to Naomi’s cash-in?

Did WWE Call An Audible On Naomi?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, former WWE writer Vince Russo claimed that Rollins’ injury might have forced WWE to make a change and have Naomi cash in:

I think they felt they needed to do something. I thought there was going to be a cash-in in the Goldberg vs. Gunther match. Obviously they had to change those plans when Rollins got hurt. So I think Naomi may have been an audible but that’s just my opinion.

The problem with Russo’s claim, however, is that reports have claimed that WWE did not plan to have Seth Rollins cash in his briefcase at the end of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
