Naomi Winning MITB Was A “Career Achievement Award”

Naomi Caution WWE

Naomi’s Money in the Bank match win came as a surprise to many fans.

The women’s ladder match also featured other favourites like Rhea Ripley and Alexa Bliss, and newcomers Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, and Roxanne Perez.

Naomi has been involved in a feud with Jade Cargill. On the May 30 SmackDown episode, she even confessed to entering Bianca Belair’s parents’ house when they were away.

Her character arc has turned volatile, and nothing she does here on will have been predicted by anyone beforehand.

Now, with the MITB briefcase in her hands, she has put all the female champions on guard, as all of them have a target on their backs.

The former champion is a 16-year veteran who has not necessarily had a seamless relationship with WWE.

In 2022, while holding the women’s tag team titles alongside Sasha Banks, she left the company with Banks due to creative differences.

She then wrestled in TNA before returning to the Stamford-based company in 2024.

Jonathan Coachman Explains Naomi’s “Career Achievement Award” Dig

Former WWE announcer Jonathan Coachman, on the recent episode of the Coach & Bro podcast, called Naomi’s win a “career achievement award.”

He explained this by saying the following:

I look at Money in the Bank as whoever wins it either, two things – A, it’s gotta be career changing for them or (B) it has to lead to a storyline that can help the show moving forward. Seth Rollins winning did that because they’re building a faction. But the Naomi side of things, that felt like a career achievement award.

I would have had Stephanie Vaquer win and then sell the story. You could have built something with her; I think she’s fantastic. [From 48:22]

Vince Russo, who was also on the podcast, agreed to putting the briefcase on someone more promising than Naomi.
