Naomi and Surprise Ex-Champion Advance To Money In The Bank
Naomi was a big winner on WWE SmackDown, along with another former champion who is headed to Money in the Bank.
There were two more Money in the Bank qualifying matches on WWE SmackDown in Knoxville.
In the first match, Jade Cargill faced off against her longtime rival Naomi and Nia Jax, who is a former Women’s Champion like Naomi. The three women went on to have a competitive match that was very even most of the way. There were points in the match where Jax and Naomi formed a brief alliance to work together against Cargill.
There was an interesting finish to the match as Nia Jax set up both women for her Annihilator splash by the turnbuckle. When Jax did her leap, Naomi was able to move out of the way and Jax hit the Annihilator on Cargill. Naomi followed up with a crafty crucifix pin on Jax for the pinfall win.
That win by Naomi means she’ll join Alexa Bliss, Rhea Ripley, Giulia, and Roxanne Perez in the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
The sixth woman in that Money in the Bank match will be either Stephanie Vaquer, Liv Morgan, or Ivy Nile. Former NXT Women’s Champion Vaquer was officially added to the WWE Raw roster on Friday, which is why she’s in the match.
Andrade Joining Naomi As Money In The Bank Qualifying Match Winners
There was also an exciting Men’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match on SmackDown as the US Champion Jacob Fatu, Andrade and Carmelo Hayes competed for a spot in the ladder match.
The Miz joined Hayes at ringside during the match, but after he got involved in the action, Fatu took out Miz with a running hip attack against the barricade.
As the match progressed, it seemed as though Fatu would secure the win, but that didn’t happen. Fatu hit an Implant DDT on Andrade. After that, Fatu went up top and hit a double jump moonsault on Andrade. Solo Solo and JC Mateo told Fatu to do it again, which Fatu didn’t appreciate because he made it clear he wanted to do it alone. Jimmy Uso pulled Mateo off the apron and hit a superkick. Melo knocked Fatu into Solo off the apron. Melo hit the First 48 on Fatu to send Fatu out of the ring. Andrade hit The Message neckbreaker on Melo for the pinfall win.
Andrade will now join Seth Rollins, LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, Penta and one more wrestler in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.
The sixth match in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder will either be CM Punk, AJ Styles, or El Grande Americano. Those three men will be in action on the June 2nd edition of Raw in Tulsa.
