Mysterious WWE Vignette Teases Iconic Tag Team Coming To SmackDown

WWE SmackDown logo over car vignette

It looks like WWE SmackDown is set to see the debut of an iconic tag team in the coming weeks after a mysterious vignette aired on the show.

In recent weeks it’s been reported that WWE is currently negotiating with at least 15 Superstars regarding new contracts. The news came after it was revealed that Kevin Owens is currently in talks over a new deal having recently stated negotiations were yet to start.

But that hasn’t stopped the company from looking to broaden its talent base by bringing in names from outside the company. And on SmackDown in Nashville, it looks like two stars are now “coming soon.”

A vignette aired showing two shadowy figures mixed in with footage of Detroit and fast cars that are synonymous with Motor City – and it could herald the arrival of two wrestling stars also synonymous with that moniker.

Motor City Machine Guns Heading To WWE

Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley — better known as the Motor City Machine Guns – had been free agents since April 1st, 2014 when their contracts with TNA expired.

While it seemed the popular team was the subject of several offers, in September it was reported that MCMG had officially signed with WWE. However, it was expected that Shelley and Sabin would be a part of NXT but now it looks like they’re going straight to the main roster.

This might come as some comfort for WWE as the company now looks to be playing a waiting game for one AEW tag team to jump ship.
