MVP’s First Match In 2 Years Won’t Be In AEW

MVP on AEW Dynamite

MVP’s return to action won’t be in AEW.

MVP has been steadily shaking up AEW since making his debut with the company at Grand Slam. After arriving on the scene, he was quickly joined by Shelton Benjamin, and The Hurt Syndicate is now in business.

Before joining the company the veteran had openly discussed wanting to wrestle again, repeatedly stating while with WWE that his career wasn’t over. He later underwent stem cell treatment in order to prepare for a comeback.

While many fans now thought that return would be in AEW, it seems that won’t be the case. It’s been announced that the star will face Josh Barnett at GCW Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport XII on November 24th. The match will be MVP’s first since July 2022.

In a post on social media, MVP expressed his excitement at finally returning to action.

I have always been a fan of Japanese wrestling & traditional submission grappling! Some of my 1st lessons in submission grappling came from the LEGEND, Josh Barnett.

11 years later, I’m a Brazilian jiu-jitsu blackbelt. Multi time grappling champion. Time to test myself. 👊🏽🥋

Bobby Lashley Close To AEW Debut

Meanwhile, it appears that Bobby Lashley is closer than ever to joining MVP and Shelton Benjamin in AEW. During a recent virtual signing, Lashley said fans should expect to see something “pop off” in the next couple of weeks, confirming he’s had offers in wrestling, boxing, and MMA.

Despite his suggestion that he remains a free agent, it’s been reported that Lashley has already become All Elite, and the company is simply biding its time when it comes to his debut. It’s believed the former WWE star will again link up with MVP and Benjamin as part of the relaunched Hurt Business.

Benjamin, who is currently undefeated in AEW, is set to challenge Swerve Strickland on October 30th.
