Mustafa Ali Discusses Why Cruiserweight Division Failed

WWE Superstar Mustafa Ali has given his views on why the cruiserweight division and 205 Live show failed for the company.

WWE has tried several times over the years to maintain a competitive and featured cruiserweight division with the latest attempt coming off the Cruiserweight Classic tournament back in 2016.

Following that, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was rebooted and a cruiserweight-focused show 205 Live was soon launched to showcase the best that the division had to offer.

Ultimately, the show faltered with the focus being removed from the division and the Cruiserweight Title was rebranded as an NXT Championship before being unified with the NXT North American Championship in January 2022.

One of the stars of the brand has answered on social media as to why the division ultimately faltered with Mustafa Ali saying it came as a result of not placing the focus on him.

Mustafa Ali has had something of a stop/start WWE career with periods of being featured on the main roster being punctuated with hiatuses from WWE television. Ali’s last appearance on Monday Night Raw came on the 15th of August when he teamed with Cedric Alexander in a tag team defeat against the team of The Miz and Tommaso Ciampa.
