Multiple NXT Stars Appear On WWE SmackDown

WWE Trick Williams NXT

There was some NXT representation when WWE SmackDown was in Orlando.

The WWE SmackDown brand was in familiar territory on August 16th when the show took place in Orlando, Florida. There was a sold out crowd with over 15,000 people in attendance, which is a lot more than the smaller venue at the WWE Performance Center that NXT uses.

During the Smackdown episode, there were three prominent NXT wrestlers shown in the crowd since the NXT brand is based out of Orlando, which means a lot of the NXT talent lives in the area.

Before a match between Blair Davenport and Naomi, the NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez appeared in the front row.

Kevin Owens defeated Grayson Waller in a match. Before the match, NXT Champion Ethan Page was shown in the front row in what was Page’s first appearance on the WWE roster. It’s interesting to note also that Owens fought with Waller where Page was shown and when they made their way to that area, Page was not there. That means WWE likely just puts the talent on camera, but then they are taken to the back after that.

Former NXT Champion Trick Williams was also in attendance at Smackdown because he was shown before the excellent tag team match between The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) and #DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa). There was no interaction between Trick and his former best friend Carmelo Hayes on the show.

WWE NXT Champions Will Learn PLE Opponents On Next Episode Of NXT TV

The next WWE NXT Premium Live Event is called No Mercy on September 1st from Denver.

It was announced this past Tuesday that there will be a triple threat match taking place on the August 20th episode of NXT. It’s a #1 Contender’s Match featuring TNA’s Joe Hendry vs. Wes Lee vs. Pete Dunne. The winner of that match faces NXT Champion Ethan Page at No Mercy.

As for NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, there will be a six-woman Gauntlet Eliminator Match featuring Wren Sinclair, Adrianna Rizzo, Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, Kendal Grey & Karmen Petrovic. The winner of that match will face Perez at No Mercy for the NXT Women’s Title.

In addition to all of that, the NXT brand is building momentum for when they debut on The CW Network on October 1 in Chicago with CM Punk in attendance and their second episode on The CW is in St. Louis on October 8th with Randy Orton in attendance.
