Multiple AEW Champions To Compete In Japan

AEW star Jack Perry

Two more AEW stars have been confirmed for Wrestle Dynasty.

Back in July, AEW and NJPW announced the creation of Wrestle Dynasty. The cross-promotional show which will also feature talent from CMLL, ROH, and Stardom is set to take place on January 5th, just 24 hours after Wrestle Kingdom at the Tokyo Dome.

In October, it was announced that the Young Bucks would be in action on the show, although the identity of their opponents remains a mystery. The match will be the first in Japan for Matt and Nick Jackson since early 2019.

The event could also feature the in-ring return of Kenny Omega who has been out of action since December 2023. Omega recently made an appearance at NJPW Power Struggle where he said he’d love to face one of the company’s young stars at the event in January. After cutting a promo in the ring, Omega was attacked backstage by Gabe Kidd. Many suspect the attack will lead to a match between the pair at the Tokyo Dome.

AEW Title To Be Defended At Wrestle Dynasty

Two more matches have now been confirmed for the event, which will see Jack Perry and Konosuke Takeshita in action.

Perry is set to take on Yota Tsuji, who he recently attacked at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed. Meanwhile, Tomohiro Ishii will challenge either Shingo Takagi or Konosuke Takeshita for the NEVER Openweight Championship. Takagi and Takeshita are set to meet for the title at Wrestle Kingdom.

Furthermore, if Takeshita still holds the AEW International Title by the time Wrestle Dynasty rolls around, that championship will also be on the line.
