Multi-Talented AEW Star Signs New Deal
An AEW star who has more than one role in the company has inked a new deal with Tony Khan.
AEW lost its glamour earlier in 2025 as Mariah May made the jump to WWE, where she has since been rechristened as Blake Monroe in NXT. Monroe’s jump across wrestling’s divide is the latest of many in recent months that have seen the likes of Penta, Rey Fenix, Aleister Black, and Rusev all leave AEW behind for WWE.
It was reported that three more AEW stars’ futures were in doubt as their contracts ended in August 2025, which would have left them potentially open to join the exodus to WWE. But now, at least one of them is staying exactly where they are.
AEW Getting A Taste For 5 More Years
Fightful Select has reported that “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard has signed a new long-term contract to stay with AEW. Menard’s new deal is five years, and he is said to be ecstatic to be staying. Menard is said to be a well-liked presence in the company, where he combines his role as a wrestler with commentary duties.
Matt Menard and Angelo Parker made the jump to AEW in 2021 following their release from WWE. Together, they are best known for their role in the Jericho Appreciation Society alongside the likes of Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Daniel Garcia, and Jake Hager.
Over the last couple of years, Matt Menard has been heard at the commentary table for AEW while his in-ring time has been more limited. Menard competed in just 10 matches in 2024 and has only been part of four in 2025, which were all on Collision. Most of these bouts have seen Menard team with long-time partner “Cool Hand” Angelo Parker.
The report does not make clear what Angelo Parker’s future with AEW is, as his contract is also believed to be close to expiring.
