MJF Threatens To No Show Forbidden Door

MJF

MJF will have his hands full at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on June 25th after he was announced for a major match on the show, but that’s if the star even turns up.

With Forbidden Door season upon both companies, there was a strong New Japan Pro Wrestling presence on Dynamite in Washington D.C. Will Ospreay stunned Kenny Omega at the end of the night as he looked to get the edge ahead of their rematch for the IWGP US Championship.

NJPW’s resident Ace Hiroshi Tanahashi also made his presence felt on the show as he appeared in a video discussing his exploits at the event in 2022. Tanahashi had challenged Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at the event and one year later, he issued a challenge for the title once again, this time targeted at MJF.

A disgusted MJF soon gave his answer to the challenge and said he had no intention of defending his title against someone “from a rinky-dink indy promotion in Japan.” He then noted that even if the match was booked he still wouldn’t show up and it wouldn’t be the first time he no showed a booking for Tony Khan, playing into the drama surrounding him going into Double Or Nothing in 2022 when it became unclear whether he’d show up for his bout against Wardlow after skipping out on an advertised meet and greet.

Despite MJF’s protestations, it looks like the match is at least being advertised for the show, whether the champion shows up will be up to him.
