MJF Thanks Pro Wrestling For The “Most Amazing Year”

MJF is thankful for the year he has had and decided to express his thanks in a post on social media.

It has been a career year for AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman. It was 11 months ago at Full Gear 2022 when MJF became the youngest World Champion in AEW history. Now he sits just about ten days away from setting the record for the longest AEW World Title reign in company history.

While MJF has spent most of his AEW career as one of the most villainous heels in the company, “The Devil” Max has become one of the most popular wrestlers in the company. While Max will readily admit that he’s a scumbag, he makes sure to let the fans know he is their scumbag.

During this career year, MJF has defended the AEW World Title in huge matches against the likes of Bryan Danielson (in an incredible Ironman Match at Revolution), Adam Cole, and Samoa Joe. MJF’s World Title match with Cole was in the main event of AEW All In, which had over 70,000+ fans in attendance – by far the biggest show in company history.

On Twitter/X on Saturday, MJF decided to post a lengthy message thanking pro wrestling, the fans and more for the year he has had.

“This will feel random but I just wanted to say I’ve been doing this since I was 18 and there were times I questioned if I belonged or if I was good enough to be involved in something I hold at such a high regard.

2023 has been a year that has challenged me more physically and emotionally then any year of my life. One day I’ll tell everyone what stuff went down in my personal life….

But it’s also been the most amazing year as well. I can say confidently I’ve never loved this sport more.

I’m excited for the present and the future.

I wanted to thank everyone who ever told me I was great.

And everyone whoever told me I wasn’t good enough.

It all drives me to reach for my ultimate goal of going down as one of the greats.

Thanks for following my career.

Thanks for loving something I cherish and hold dearly.

Thank you Poors.

Thank you Pro wrestling.

Check out #AEWCollision tonight.

That nerd Danielson is going to I’m sure have another top 5 match of the year trying to run away from the dialogue that I beat him clean in the middle of the ring.”

MJF is set to defend his Dynamite Diamond Ring and the AEW World Title

This coming Wednesday, October 25th on AEW Dynamite, MJF will defend his coveted Dynamite Diamond Ring against Juice Robinson of Bullet Club Gold. Juice earned the right after winning a Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal this past Wednesday on Dynamite.

In addition to that, MJF will defend the AEW World Title against Bullet Club Gold’s leader Jay White at Full Gear on November 18th. It’s the PPV where MJF won the AEW World Title one year earlier.
