MJF Dealing With Significant Injury During “Secretive” Absence
MJF is staying quiet.
By the end of his record-breaking AEW World Title reign, MJF’s body was feeling the effects of tangling with some of the best wrestlers the world has to offer.
Going into his most recent match with Samoa Joe at Worlds End, the star was dealing with a legitimate hip injury stemming from a match with Jay White, and a torn labrum. As a result, MJF wrestled the match against Joe in “great pain” but remained determined to drop the title as planned.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer said the star is being as secretive as possible about his absence, with his shoulder injury described as “significant.” There had been hopes he could avoid surgery which would have shortened his recovery period, however, there has been little comment on his progress.
During a previous absence from AEW, the former World Champion all but disappeared from public life before returning to the company at All Out 2022.
Regarding MJF, he is out of action as his shoulder injury was significant. Aside from that, he is literally being as secretive as possible about his situation.
Samoa Joe Thinks He “Ended” MJF
During a recent interview, Samoa Joe discussed MJF’s absence and said he was worried he might have ended him altogether. The AEW World Champion went on to praise his rival, describing him as a “tremendous athlete.”
He’s a tremendous talent, tremendous athlete, and it’ll be very interesting to see what his future holds.
Despite his own claims to the contrary, figures within WWE believe The Salt of the Earth has signed a new contract with AEW keeping him with the promotion for several years.
