MJF Outsmarts “Hangman” Page Into Changing AEW World Title Match At Forbidden Door

MJF

MJF used mind games to get “Hangman” Adam Page to agree to changes for their AEW World Title match.

There was a face-to-face segment between the AEW World Champion “Hangman” Adam Page and his rival, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, on the August 13th edition of Dynamite.

During the segment, the two men traded insults, and Page managed to goad MJF into using his guaranteed title shot contract for an AEW World Title match at Forbidden Door. Hangman didn’t want to gift Max a title shot, but by getting Max to use his title shot contract, Page could adequately prepare for him.

On AEW Dynamite in Glasgow, which was the first Dynamite episode ever in Scotland, the former AEW World Champion MJF managed to outsmart the champion.

Page was in the ring for a promo segment when he called out MJF to the ring, but he knew Max wouldn’t join him in the ring. Announcer Tony Schiavone spoke on the microphone to reveal that Max had some demands, but that Page couldn’t leave the ring.

There was a backstage scene where Max enlisted the help of Ricochet and the Gates of Agony. Together, they had beloved babyface wrestler Mark Briscoe tied to a chair, and they were pouring gasoline on him while threatening to set him on fire.

MJF Made Demands That Hangman Accepted

While speaking into a camera backstage, MJF made three demands of Hangman going into their AEW World Title match at Forbidden Door.

  1. The title can change hands via disqualification.
  2. The title can change hands via countout.
  3. MJF does not have to use his contract to get his match at Forbidden Door.

Hangman: “Fine, you got it! Fine!” Hangman felt like he had to agree or else MJF and his friends would light Page’s friend Mark Briscoe on fire.

MJF said that’s what he thought, and he blew out a flame while telling Page that he is still a hero.

After the segment, Page hit Ricochet with a chair in a backstage attack. Security pulled Page off Ricochet. Page wanted to know where MJF was, but he was told that Max had already left. Page punched a security guy and left.

That means at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door on Sunday, August 24th, MJF can win the AEW World Title from Page by disqualification or countout, which is not usually the case in title matches. Also, Friedman will still be able to use his title match contract at any time in the future.
