MJF On Why He Rejected WWE To Stay With AEW
MJF forced Tony Khan to dig deep.
At Double or Nothing, Maxwell Jacob Friedman made his highly anticipated return to AEW. The star had been absent since December and wasted little time in taking out the man who had betrayed him, Adam Cole.
Since then the star has set about climbing the AEW mountain once again, confirming he’s signed a new deal with the company. Despite talk of the “Bidding war of 2024” MJF later confirmed he re-signed with AEW despite interest from WWE.
During a new interview with Fox 5 New York, the former World Champion discussed his decision to stay with AEW, claiming the company is home to the best talent in the world.
“It was a very easy decision for me mainly because Tony Khan is paying me an exorbitant amount of money. But outside of that, I also believe in AEW, I believe that it’s where the best wrestle. I believe that we have some of the most top-tier elite talent you get to see in the world today.”
MJF Set For Surprising Match At Forbidden Door
Meanwhile, it’s been announced that MJF will face CMLL star Hechicero at Forbidden Door. The match was made official after the star defeated Rush on the June 19th episode of Dynamite.
After his latest win, The Cage of Agony appeared on the video screen to tell The Salt of the Earth that the EVPs had decided his next opponent.
