MJF Denied Iconic Finishing Move By WWE Hall Of Famer
Former AEW World Champion MJF was left disappointed after one WWE Hall of Famer rejected his request to carry on their iconic finishing move.
Long before Randy Orton ever pounced on a WWE star out of nowhere, Diamond Dallas Page was delighting WCW fans as he nailed opponent after opponent with the Diamond Cutter on his way to becoming WCW World Champion.
Not wanting the move to be left on the shelf following his retirement, DDP chose the person he wanted to carry on his legacy and it left MJF out in the cold.
DDP Rejected MJF’s Request
Appearing on Hey (EW) with the venerable RJ City, QT Marshall revealed that he was handpicked by DDP to continue using the Diamond Cutter after turning down a request from MJF:
[DDP] called me one day because I didn’t have a finish – I did but someone else was using it, long story short – so I said yeah, I’ll do it but I never called it the QT Cutter. I actually enjoy it when it’s called the Diamond Cutter handed down by Diamond Dallas Page because people hate it. They hate that, of all the professional wrestlers in the world he chose me. So I want to keep putting that out to the world.
For those fans out there watching, DDP chose me, could’ve been MJF, could’ve been anyone else, he chose me. In fact MJF asked for it and he said no.
MJF has been left to put away opponents with his Salt of the Earth armbar as well as his Heat Seeker and on more occasions than not, his trusty Dynamite Diamond ring.
QT Marshall will hope to nail the Diamond Cutter when he faces one of the Costco Guys in one of AEW’s most unlikely matches ever on the Full Gear pre-show on November 23rd.
