MJF Believes Top AEW Stars Deserve More Respect
MJF has done something rare by praising two of the biggest names in All Elite Wrestling.
There would be no All Elite Wrestling without the AEW Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks. That’s according to the AEW American Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), who started in the company in 2019 when the Bucks helped launch the promotion.
The Young Bucks duo of Matthew & Nicholas Jackson are AEW Executive Vice Presidents (EVP) who are also three-time and the current AEW Tag Team Champions.
Just like the Young Bucks, MJF is a current champion in AEW since he’s the American Champion. Friedman is also the young and longest-reigning AEW World Champion in the history of the company.
During an interview with Wrestletalk, former AEW World Champion MJF made it clear that he thinks The Young Bucks should be respected more by wrestling fans.
“I’m going to do something I rarely do, and I’m going to put them over. They are innovators. The company does not exist without them. There are a lot of people that come into All Elite Wrestling, this company has been around for over five years now, I was there since before day one. I was at All In before the company even existed.”
“I’m one of the few left that was a genuine day one guy. I was in the first match in AEW history, the Casino Battle Royale where I defeated Hangman Page and cut a great promo on Bret Hart. None of that happens without Matt and Nick Jackson.”
“I think it’s unfortunate that, if new people come into my company, they should be showing them that respect that they earned and deserve. I feel the fans should be showing them that respect they earned and deserve.”
At that point, Friedman mentioned his storyline with Adam Cole in 2023 that ended with Cole turning on Max.
“Would I work with them in a capacity where I feel we could mutually benefit from a business point of view? I struggle with trust. Especially after what Adam Cole did to me. Horrible guy. We can all agree on that, right?”
“I don’t see a long-term business relationship, but I would interested, intrigued, in a short-term business relationship that I think would benefit both parties.”
MJF Believes He Has Been Carrying AEW
The ego of Maxwell Jacob Friedman remains massive since he told Sports Illustrated recently that AEW needs him.
“I’ve been carrying this company for five years on my back.”
“People need MJF. It’s that simple. This company needs MJF. Fortunately, they’ve got me. What’s this company without MJF? It’s boring. This is the most people have talked about my company in months. Thank me later. If you’re not going to give me my just due now, you’ll have to when it’s all said and done.”
Up next MJF is a huge match at AEW All In on August 25th when Friedman defends the US Title against Will Ospreay in London, England, which is Ospreay’s home country. It’s one of the most anticipated matches at All In especially since they had a 60-minute classic match on Dynamite recently.
